Our FD series heat pump food dehydrators are capable of dehydrating products in the 80°F to 160°F temperature range. Gentle, low temperature, and controlled dehydrating yields consistent, high quality output well suited for the natural and health food industries. FD series dehydrators utilize heat pump technology, resulting in low operating costs due to high energy efficiency (up to 60% reduction in energy costs versus conventional drying).

Each FD series dehydrator consists of three main components: a dehumidifier, an insulated chamber, and Process Control Components. Depending upon the type of product, the amount of moisture that needs to be removed, and the desired drying time, we will work with you to select an appropriately sized dehydrator and chamber, and Process Control Components.

 

How It Works

 

Dehumidification dryers work differently than conventional dryers. For both systems, air is heated to the desired drying temperature, then circulated over the product to absorb moisture. However instead of exhausting this hot, moist air like a conventional dryer would, a dehumidification dryer draws the air over the cold coil of a refrigeration system. (1) Moisture is condensed from the air and drained away. (2) Air is drawn over the hot coil of the system to reheat. (3) It is then sent back over the wet product. This cycle repeats until the product has reached the desired moisture content. The energy used is only what is necessary to operate the refrigeration compressor, blower, and circulating fans. Up to 60% less energy than conventional dryers.
